Renard Small, our Resident Artist, has been coming to the
studio since 2002. He spends 20 hours per week in the
studio painting, plus many more hours at home painting.
He is a very prolific artist!
Renard's unique style is a wax-resist technique. First he
lays down lines using oil pastel. He then fills in the
negative space using watercolors. Most of his art is
abstract, although every so often something
representational shows up.
As an artist living with autism, communication can be
difficult. Creating art becomes a way to share with others
his interests and perspective.
